Veggie Fam: Brunch is for Lovers (Recap)

If you remember, a couple weeks ago we told you about our friends Veggie Fam hosting a brunch pop-up at Lock & Key every Sunday. Well we got a chance to sit down and enjoy this vibrant brunch and we think you should too. It’s unlike any brunch you’ll have somewhere else in Los Angeles. There’s no line to wait in and no overachieving dishes to stuff down. The menu is in some ways simple, but mindful. Offering an a la carte menu allow you to either decide what you want for yourself, or grab a few different items and share with the table. On top of that, you can choose to add coconut CBD in a few select items.

And it wouldn’t be brunch without Mimosas, amirite? If you want one or two or bottomless mimosas there’s also that option. Brunch is for Lovers at Lock & Key is such a great pairing, you really can’t go wrong. Music, food, drinks, and overall good vibes— it’s truly a great experience. Especially if you wait around for Ice Cream Sunday. I mean, you ate, drank a little, now ready to turn up for a little bit. That’s a perfect Sunday if you ask me.

L.A. BREAKY BURRITO

Who doesn’t love a good breakfast burrito? This one left me searching for the right words to describe it (in a good way) and I still cant. All I know is that it’s really good. I took half of it home cause it was a pretty stuffed burrito. And sure enough I ate it once I got home, that’s just how enticing it was. Something about it that lingered my tastebuds. I added sausage which is an additional $3 and worth every cent.

KBBQ JACK FRUIT QUESADILLA

What might seem simple at first, I assure you are far from it. Jackfruit of course is not meat, but gives you the texture of carnitas or shredded beef. Making this the perfect lightweight dish that is both fulfilling and flavorful. Kbbq glaze on top of marinated jackfruit in between a crispy tortilla. Great appetizer to share with the table, but also enjoyable to eat for yourself.

CRISPY TATER PUFFS

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I can eat tater tots all day, let alone these. Straight forward, nothing fancy, crispy and delicious. Tater Tots with parmesan and parsley is how all tots should be served, ever. A compliment to any of the menu items, especially with the burrito. Yeah, there’s tots in the burrito, but not this crispy and tasty. You’ll be eating these even after you’re full.

AVOCADO TOAST

I won’t lie, this wasn’t my favorite avocado toast. But it was definitely different than most. Cashew cheese isn’t my favorite spread, but it definitely fit the bill for what Veggie Fam is all about. Other than that it was a good avocado toast, large portion, healthy option, and again it’s avocado toast. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!
